Anita Revel’s art practice is underpinned by vivid, evocative colour representing positive states of being. Exploring the relationships between colour, symbolism, pattern and movement, Anita produces gestural abstract paintings, expressive vignettes and portraits, stylised prints, and vibrant murals. She also conducts art workshops using paint, play and pop psychology from her studio in Cowaramup.
There are a lot of things that make my heart sing, but beauty is the common thread.
I create beauty in order to be surrounded by beauty.
Whether upcycling, sculpting, re-working or painting, I am most often found in my studio, playing with paint and teasing out the newest idea revealing itself with every brush stroke.
I prefer to work in acrylics, beginning each project with a beautiful word or affirmation in mind, and letting that vibration infuse itself into each piece.
I tend to work “big”, using bright colours (often in a tetradic colour scheme), with ethereal backgrounds, vibrant faces, and symbols as overlays.
I work out of my studio in Cowaramup, where I have a station set up for my 7-year-old daughter to explore her own arts practice. Her constant babble is often the soundtrack to my work!
