I’ve been taking part in the MRROS program in the Margaret River region this year (aka “Open Studios”)… Perhaps because I’m a “destination” artist (about 5 minutes out of Cowaramup), I’ve been on the quiet side with visitors. I’m OK with this for two reasons…
- I’ve had time to finish off all those half-done pieces to put in my (new!!) gallery, and
- I’ve had time to come up with brilliant new concepts that have me very, very excited.
One of these new concepts is a lino cut portrait of a crystal-gazing woman with stars in her eyes and flowers in her hair. I then hand-paint in the details — her skin, eyes and lips. This makes every piece I produce in this series absolutely unique, from the eye colour to the amount of “tooth” she is showing.
I’m excited because her ethereal energy is so beautiful I could cry. She is gazing into the multi-faceted dimensions of past, present future, and is smugly satisfied at what she sees. Depending on which way the crystal turns, a different story plays out. In all cases, she is happy with what she sees.
Also, because she’s made from two separate lino squares enabling me to create a 45x60cm canvas — she makes quite an impact on the wall!
I will keep adding to this gallery as new pieces come into being, so bookmark this page to return for updates!
