Another aspect of peacock: Grace Under Fire
Ernest Hemmingway defined “courage” as “grace under pressure” — the ability to maintain inner calm in the face of chaos or stress. The expression was modified to “grace under fire” in combat situations, to describe the heroism of soldiers on the battlefield while taking fire from enemies. They earned the description of having “grace under fire” for staying calm and collected in a hostile, threatening situation.
When a person responds with clarity, compassion and calmness, they become the embodiment of “grace under fire”.
Peacock, in his capacity for deterring snakes, is a proud protector and beautiful guardian… He demonstrates dignified behaviour, and is therefore a totem animal for responding to stressful situations with dignity and grace.
This whopper of a painting measures 2.34m x 62cm. Haven’t got any plans for where to hang him yet…. hopefully he’ll get sold and save me the trouble
