Owl symbolism: I can see clearly now.

I was in the mood for something playful and quirky this week… Perhaps something with winky wonky houses sitting on a hillside, under a grand old tree with three cute owls perched on a branch? And of course some happy looking flowers scattered across the hillside. Flowers make any painting happier.

And so as I doodled in my visual journal, thinking thinking thinking — “what is going to reveal itself to me today?” — the owls, snuggled on the branch, came into focus. With owl symbolism being about “clarity, insight and perception”, I knew (sensed) that I Can See Clearly Now had come into being.

Owls have symbolic gifts of insight; the ability to see what others have difficulty seeing. While the townspeople  sleep, the nocturnal animals are peering into the shadows. They seeing a potential meal, watching the mice play, observing the world that is overlooked by the regular person.

With 360 degree vision they can look beyond the obvious and see situations from many different angles. Having owl energy lets you remember to do the same. Solve problems by looking at them as if you were an owl — from different angles and with your “sight” switched on.

And, according to All Totems, the owl’s “senses pierce through shadows, beyond fear and darkness, through to the other side that promises light, happiness and knowledge.”

The owl symbolism and interpretations are all good gifts and great energy to add to a painting designed to add a dash of happiness to any wall.
