The “Saving Grace” of this paiNting is…
One definition of “saving grace” is: “The saving grace is the good thing that redeems, or saves, a negative experience. The original meaning, and one still used today, is religious: God’s grace or blessing, especially when it’s granted suddenly and “saves” a sinner.” (Vocabulary.com)
Well I’d like to categorically state for the record that there was zero negative experience in painting this piece!
So why name it Saving Grace?
While working with these joyful colours, I felt myself being uplifted. I felt safe, as though being held in a state of grace… I was in a state of frenzied joy, of flowing in a river of trust and good feels.
But the word grace would not lose its grip on me! So when I made my signature on the bottom right corner, I knew grace had to be in the title somewhere. Upon reflection, and realising how bittersweet it would be for me to let this piece go, I thought,
“Selling this painting will be sad, but the saving grace will be that it will make someone very, very happy.”
So, it is with mixed feelings that I offer this gorgeous piece up for sale. It can be hung vertically or horizontally, and is painted on an internal door so it could even be hung as a door!
With love, and shiny intentions,
❤ Anita Revel
