Mural: Rainbow Mural (Arcoíris)

New mural, olé! With this South American colour palette vibes, and painted in a rainbow over my arched doors, it’s only fitting this rainbow mural be called, “Arcoíris”.

This is the first time I used @procreate to design a mural, and I’ve gotta say, it didn’t turn out like I’d planned… it turned out better 😝

If anyone would like to coach me on how to paint a neutral beige boho mural I am a willing mentee. Is mentee a word??

This rainbow mural is on the external wall of the Margaret River Marriage Office and is intended to be an upbeat backdrop to couples renewing vows or eloping, or local fashion designers to add some punch to their instagram feed.

(If you’re looking for a colourful backdrop, get in touch — I’d be happy to give you access to this space!)

The symbolism of rainbow

I really like the symbolism of rainbow and its role in a love relationship. Every relationship has its ups and downs, that’s reality. The rainbow is the upside consequence of a rainy, gloomy day — likewise, in relationships, it represents the happiness to be found as the result of working through a tough time.

It’s like Dolly Parton said…

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain!

Dolly Parton

Just as they occur after rainstorms, rainbows symbolize a fresh start for those who’ve faced struggles. The greater the storm, the brighter (and more anticipated) the rainbow, after all.

A rainbow signifies embracing love, or moving into a new stage of a relationship — a deeper stage, with huge beauty and appeal. These new beginnings are seen as joyous ones full of opportunities to love and grow. To look onwards and upwards…

“You’ll never find a rainbow if you’re looking down.”

Charlie Chaplin

Also, when it comes to marriage / committed relationships, I like to think of this aspect of rainbow:

Love each other as if you were both rainbows with gold at both ends.

Anita Revel

All this talk of rainbow is hopeful and helpful energy to keep in mind when going through a stormy patch. Sí?
